This
is the season of the ancestors. The thinning of the veil when those we've loved, those who've passed draw closest. Samhain - the Celtic New
Year - later became All Hallows' Eve, meaning holy or hallowed eve,
the threshold of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
I love
the physicality of books. These belonged to my father's aunt, Eunice. Photographing them, I connect to her &
that time's culture. Reading
as joy, book making as art. Photographing these became a meditation
on the act of reading, the art of book making, and how we pass our culture from
generation to generation.
Let us remember: our words matter.
May the
ancestors will you their wisdom.
Books,
like the dead --
Their stories re-opening
secrets; dare we learn?
