Dear Friends,
Today, on the first day of Spring, my pear oaks put out blossoms.
Words to meditate on this Spring Equinox, when day and night are equal:
Balance. Equilibrium. Equality.
Pause. Rest. Renewal. Reset.
The Wheel of the Year balances today, then turns; the light increases.
For more about the traditions of the Vernal Equinox and its promise, here is wise-woman Beth Owlsdaughter's blog:
Some wise words I've come across and found helpful at this trying time:
"Every hand that we don't shake must become a phone call that we place.
Every embrace that we avoid must become a verbal expression of warmth and
concern.
Every inch and every foot that we physically place between ourselves and
another mus become a thought as to how we might
be of help to that other, should the need arise".
-- Rabbi Yosef Kanesky
"We do
not have to become heroes overnight. Just a step at a time, meeting each thing
that comes up, seeing it is not as dreadful as it appeared, discovering we have
the strength to stare it down."
— Eleanor Roosevelt
I've always loved the bird sounds on The Old Farmer's Almanac – right now, they
are especially delightful. Play these
for an instant pick-me-up.
And finally, a groovy old chestnut by Friend and Lover – "Reach Out in the Darkness".
We
are physically apart, but together in heart.
Sing along with this. Loud!
We're all in this together.
From today on, the light increases. Stay safe and well dear friends.
Yours in Love, Light and Hope.
